The Granby Zoo was founded in 1953 by the then-mayor of the town. The zoo has since become a major tourist attraction in Quebec and is currently home to over 1000 animals across 200 species. Animals within the zoo are grouped into the various continents that they are found in including South America, Asia and Africa. Zoo de Granby is able to attract more than half a million visitors each year.
Visiting the Granby Zoo is sure to attract kids as it has flamingos, hippos, llamas, tiger, wallabies and a petting zoo. Kids can also join the annual Summer Day Camp that is hosted by the zoo. Granby Zoo also features a monorail that visitors can ride on. Older visitors will also love the zoo as it offers guided tours around the premises as well as workshops and conferences.
Aside from the animals, the zoo also features an aquatic park that includes a wave pool, the Bookshike Basin and the Cunucunoma River.
