The Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park is the first national park to protect an exclusively marine environment in Quebec. The reserve was established in 1998 and makes up an area of 1,246 kilometers. It is a small strip of area where the Saguenay River meets the Saint Lawrence River and attracts whales and belugas because of its rich food supply.

The Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park is frequented by visitors who love to spot beluga whales who often pop to the surface. Aside from protecting marine creatures, the park also aims to educate and teach people to appreciate and discover the many natural wonders in the area. Guests also come to the park to enjoy scuba diving and other festivals that the park plays host to. The park is co-managed by Parks Canada and by Societe des etablissements de plein air du Quebec. It draws in more than 1 million visitors every year.
