Established in 1987, this huge 156 square kilometer park is home to one of the largest protected areas in the southern Ontario region. The Bruce Peninsula National Park is part of the Niagara Escarpment and forms the core of UNESCO’s Niagara Escarpment World Biosphere Reserve.
The park attracts visitors who are looking for opportunities for outdoor activities such as bird watching, camping and hiking. There are several trails within the area that range from easy to difficult. Visitors in the area also get to see various types of animals including black bears, snakes, chipmunks, raccoons, foxes, squirrels, skunks and many more.
People coming over to the national park are also greeted with a visitor’s centre, which was constructed in 2006. Aside from an information centre, theatre, exhibit hall and reception area, the park also has a 20-metre viewing tower which allows visitors to see among the most breathtaking views of the Georgian Bay and the surrounding park area.
