Art Gallery of Ontario
With a physical area of around 480,000 square feet, the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) is considered to be one of the largest art galleries in North America. The gallery was established in 1900 and ranks 1st in the entire country and 82nd in the whole world. AGO receives more than 800,000 visitors every year.
The Art Gallery of Ontario currently houses more than 80,000 art works with its photography collection being among the largest. It also showcases large collections of Canadian art as well as works during the Renaissance and Baroque periods. The gallery has undergone several transformations over the years such as the addition of the Weston Family Learning Centre, David Milne Research Centre and many others.
The modern art gallery also has an extensive library, gallery workshop space, student spaces, espresso bar, theatre and lecture hall, artist-in-residence, gift shop and an event space called the Baillie Court.
